Career as a Locksmith
Locksmiths are responsible for repairing and opening locks, changing locks and combinations, opening safes, and installing locks. Locksmiths usually work for a locksmith company and usually learn their craft through on the job training and apprenticeship. The work they do is usually in the clients homes or businesses. Many locksmiths will work getting keys out of locked cars as well. Locksmiths usually work in fairly clean, safe, stress free environments. Locksmiths must be registered with their local police unit and those with a criminal record are not usually allowed to obtain employment due to the tools they have. Police keeps all locksmiths' personal information on file.
A typical salary for a locksmith is lower than that of the other trades. The range is lower.

The career opportunities for locksmiths are quite high due to a lack of new employees entering the profession. There is a demand for locksmiths that the supply cannot meet.
